The nearest country pub/restaurant in Little Somerford (The Saladin) is within walking distance -
torch required after dark! Other popular pub-restaurants are in nearby Lea (Rose and Crown), Brinkworth (Three Crowns),
Crudwell (Wheatsheaf) and Charlton (Horse and Groom). There is a traditional village shop/post office 2 miles away in Great Somerford, selling a wide range of convenience
goods. The nearest major supermarket is 3 miles on the outskirts of Malmesbury, in addtion there are two "all day"
opening stores, a Co-op in Malmesbury High Street and a Tesco Express just outside Wootton Bassett.

and Kemble main line stations are within 15 minutes. A regular bus service stops within 400m of the entrance, operating between
Swindon, Malmesbury and Chippenham.
Malmesbury itself has a wide range of shops, cafes and restaurants in its quaint high street. Its famous
ancient abbey and the recently rejuvenated Abbey House Gardens attract visitors from around the world. It
also has a modern leisure centre with indoor swimming pool, gym, badminton and squash courts. Crows Nest Farm Holiday Cottages are also ideally located for major local events such as Badminton
Horse Trials, the Royal International Air Tattoo at Fairford, the Balloon Fiesta in Bristol, WOMAD and the Bath Festival.
Days Out
Primary attractions for our visitors are Longleat, Bath,
Stonehenge / Avebury and Stourhead. The Cotswold Wildlife Park at Burford
is on a smaller scale than Longleat but is extremely popular with younger guests. For the more energetic
the Cotswold Water Park is just a few minutes drive, with a lakeside beach and a wide range of water sports. Please do check opening periods, many outdoor attractions are partially closed during winter periods.
Other places
of interest within easy reach include Lacock Abbey, Cirencester, Dyrham Park, Bowood House, Tyntesfield, and slightly
further afield but still accessible, Cheddar Caves, Windsor Castle and the attractions of Oxford - including Blenheim
Palace.
There are local golf courses nearby at Brinkworth and Chippenham, and, for the more serious
golfer, Bowood House and Castle Combe championship courses are nearby, an hours drive will take in St Pierre
and Celtic Manor, add another 30 minutes and reach Wentworth, Sunningdale and The Belfry.
Bristol, just 30 minutes away, is
the shopping and entertainment capital of the South West with The Mall at Cribbs Causeway, the new prestigious Cabot
Circus development in the city centre, numerous theatres and museums, and an attractive harbourside leisure development.
15 minutes to the east Swindon offers cinemas, railway museum and an out of town retail outlet centre. Both are
ideal Christmas shopping destinations!
